Not too far from where we cleaned up graffiti a few weeks back, a neighbor was stabbed while confronting someone breaking into his vehicle. The suspect was arrested.
It’s rare that the incidents make it to the news, but the theft and violence in East Portland and Brentwood-Darlington isn’t. Just in May:
Twenty three assaults reported in a month seems shockingly high, as does eight burglaries. There were also 3 robberies, 30 larcenies, and 6 motor vehicle thefts.
There were 13 assaults, 4 burglaries, and no robberies in May of 2017. In April of this year, there were 15 assaults, 10 burglaries, and 2 robberies.
Stay safe folks.
There was another cougar spotted near 118th Ave & Division St this week. Authorities are telling people to keep pets inside.
Here’s an interesting editorial on the changes happening at Office of Neighborhood Involvement. In it the publisher of the NW Examiner questions the office’s lack of pubic process in its shift of mission and re-branding.
